They do this to catch insects or feed on underwater plants in shallow waters. Plants, worms, snails, shrimp, seeds, or grains—they’ll eat just about anything that’s smaller than them.
❃ Male and female Mallards vary in aesthetic—unlike most animals that look just the same… really. Male Mallards have iridescent green head feathers, white necks, and a relatively brown breast. Females are dominantly brown and tan. Both, however, have a dark-colored band of feathers with white on their wings.
