❃ To be more precise, the Mosasaurus was named the "lizard of the Meuse River" because it was first unearthed in a limestone quarry in the Netherlands' river Meuse in Maastricht.
❃ It was as fearsome as any marine reptile that fought for its place in the ocean. The Mosasaurus was one of the last giant marine reptiles, making it the most powerful predator of the Late Cretaceous era.
❃ It's teeth were sharp and was aided by double-hinged jaws for maximum biting force. It easily engulfed anything it wanted underwater—making it the "T.rex of the deep," as some would call it.
