THE ARMORED WORM
❃ Microdictyon was a strange, ancient creature that looked like a worm covered in a net-like armor. It lived a very long time ago during the Early Cambrian period, in places like Yunnan, China.
❃ It's part of a group called Lobopodia, which includes other weird worm-like animals with legs, such as Hallucigenia. Scientists have found the hard, net-like pieces from Microdictyon in rocks from the Lower Cambrian period. These pieces seem to be from its armor and might have been shed when it grew.
❃ It had ten pairs of these net-like pieces on its sides, which some people thought might be eyes, but that idea isn't widely accepted. Its head and tail were like tubes without any special features.
