THE KING OF THE DINOSAURS
❃ It being the king is no fluke. The animal’s name literally means “king of the tyrant lizards.” In Greek, “Tyranno” means tyrant, “saurus” means lizard, and “rex” means king in Latin. In 1905, Henry Fairfield Osborn finally dubbed the species Tyrannosaurus Rex.
❃ It has been discovered that the T-rex chomped with a force of at least 1,500 to 3,000 pounds per square inch. For reference, a human’s chomping force only averages 175. Meanwhile, the Tyrannosaurus rex can chomp up to the 5,000-pound range!
❃ Despite being the biggest and baddest of them all, the T-rex was actually a great parent. They moved their eggs gently and sniffed out the perfect place to build a nest. Surprisingly, there is a lack of juvenile-like fossils for the species. This could only mean they were great mamas and papas!
