❃ The Atlas beetle (Chalcosoma atlas) is a massive rhinoceros beetle found across parts of South and Southeast Asia. Named after Atlas, the mighty Titan of Greek mythology, males are instantly recognizable by three imposing horns projecting from the head and thorax. Large individuals can reach several inches in length, making this glossy, armored insect one of the most impressive beetles in its range.
❃ Those enormous horns are built for competition rather than hunting. Male Atlas beetles use them to grapple with rival males, attempting to lift, push, or throw their opponents away when competing for access to females. Females lack the spectacular horns and have a more compact appearance, creating a dramatic difference between the sexes.
❃ Much of an Atlas beetle's life is spent hidden away as a larva, developing inside decaying wood and other decomposing plant material. The larvae can grow remarkably large before pupating and transforming into armored adults. From an oversized grub to a three-horned heavyweight, the Atlas beetle undergoes one of the insect world's most impressive transformations.

1. Remove it from the packaging as soon as it arrives — don’t leave it packed.
2. Give it a good fluff — gently knead the body and work the limbs, wings, ears, or tail to redistribute the filling.
3. Let it breathe. Most plush regain their full shape within 1–3 days, while larger or denser designs can take up to a week.
4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.
5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.
