❃ Dodos were a flightless bird that was endemic to the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. It is known for its distinct appearance, with a large body, long neck and small head. The bird's wings were short and stubby, meaning it was unable to fly and its weight made it slow and clumsy on the ground.

❃ The Dodo was an herbivore and fed on the native fruits, nuts and seeds of Mauritius. The bird's diet was crucial to the dispersal of seeds across the island, making it an important part of the island's ecosystem.

❃ The Dutch sailors who discovered the bird on the island of Mauritius in the 17th century called it "Walghvogel," which means "disgusting bird" in Dutch. The Portuguese sailors called it "dronte," which means "stupid" or "simpleton" in Portuguese. Poor guy :(.
