❃ The common fangtooth (Anoplogaster cornuta) looks like a monster from the deepest ocean, but this fearsome fish is surprisingly small. Adults typically grow to only about 6 inches (15 centimeters) long and inhabit dark waters hundreds to thousands of feet beneath the surface. Its oversized head, rough skin, and enormous teeth create an intimidating appearance perfectly suited to the mysterious world of the deep sea.

❃ Its most remarkable feature is a pair of exceptionally long lower fangs, among the largest teeth relative to body size of any fish. The teeth are so enormous that the fangtooth has specialized pockets in the roof of its mouth to accommodate them when its jaws close. Rather than chewing, it uses these formidable teeth to seize fish, squid, and crustaceans in an environment where letting a rare meal escape could mean a long wait for another opportunity.

❃ Despite living in darkness, adult fangtooths have relatively small eyes and rely on other senses to navigate and hunt. Younger fangtooths look so different from adults—with longer head spines and proportionally smaller teeth—that they were once classified as an entirely different species. 3. Let it breathe. Most plush regain their full shape within 1–3 days, while larger or denser designs can take up to a week.

4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.

5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.
